The Black Ant

You look out from the window of your car. The city is quite dark outside.
As it speeds by, you just stare in the blank.

There is awkward silence inside but a whole lot of noises outside. The city outside has all the sounds.

The lump in the throat is melting as the tears roll by on your cheeks.
You shift your gaze from the front to your right. Then you look up to the sky. It’s dark.

Once again you rest your head on the seat cushion and let your tears fall in the row, one after another.

“Maybe I am not audible enough in so many sounds of this world”
“Maybe I am just too tiny to be seen in this dark amongst this whole crowd of the world.”

You know it’s not true.
You suddenly recall the words of imaam Ibn-al-Qayyim that you heard a few months back…
“He sees all that is visible, even the walk of a black ant across a solid rock in the darkest night. The unseen is visible to Him, and secrets are known to Him”

However, the evil of your soul just overpowers you. It crawls into your mind and makes you think again and again…
“No. Your pleas are not being listened. Your efforts are not seen.”

And, you start seeing your tiny frame that is resting on the car seat in this vast world as a black ant against a solid rock in the darkest night.

“You are a black ant”
“And, you can’t be seen”

“You are a black ant”
“And, you can’t be seen”

As you fall deeper in the depths of pain, hurt and despair, it rings more in your ears.
‘The Black Ant’
‘The Black Ant’

Though you refute it every time, it sticks to your mind for many days.
“The walk of a black ant can’t be seen”

Taking refuge in Allaah SWT you rise from the ashes of your crumbling faith, hurt emotions, manipulated being.
“My Rabb can see me very well even if I am a black ant”

You get back to your ever-growing faith and your healed self and you sit in a sermon to grow even more in your faith.

SubhanAllaah ❤️!
And, you couldn’t believe what your ears just listened in the sermon.
“O people, save yourselves from shirk, for it is more inconspicuous than the creeping of the ant.”

As you listened to the word ‘ant’ you feel so ashamed.
Ashamed for doubting if your Lord could see a black ant creeping on black rock in the darkest night when an ant is creeping inside your own self that is simply inconspicuous from you.

SubhanAllaah ❤️!
It is so true.
It is so easy to complain about the issues we are having but it is so difficult to take notice of the issues within us.

And, how wonderful is the way of my Lord.
How subtle is His way of teaching ❤️!
How beautiful is His way of navigating ❤️!

From ‘I am a black ant too tiny to be seen’ to ‘there might be an ant creeping within me that I can’t see’, you simply woke up in a new light.

What is that thing invisible from my eyes that might be creeping within me 🤔?
Hidden Shirk (associating anything with Allaah SWT).

But I do worship only One Lord and never associate anybody with Him 🤔?
As said ‘inconspicuous’.

What might be that 🤔?
It might be any or many things that I might be doing/not doing.

SubhanAllaah ❤️!
As you educate yourself to find out that creeping ant within you, you are left simply spellbound.

Shirk is not just the ‘shirk in Tawhid’ i.e. worshiping anything or anybody else besides Allaah. It might be the shirk in His attributes, capabilities or rights.

Is not the thought that He can’t see a black ant on a solid rock in the darkest night shirk in His attributes and capabilities?

SubhanAllaah ❤️!
I found it.

May Allah protect us from every form of shirk, big and small, open and hidden, committed in error or in ignorance. Ameen.

Sisterly Yours
The Might of Pen 🌹
